Youth Ministry

Teens have always been an important part of Hortense Camp!  Between worship services, teens have their own devotional and activity schedule.  From afterglow to group sports (and perhaps some chores), the youth have opportunity to bond with each other and interact with other age groups that are present for camp meeting.  Youth activities are for ages 13-19.

Children's Ministry

Children have activities and Bible stories during the Morning Worship hour. We could call these events "Children's Church."  They also have their own schedule of events throughout the encampment.  Children's Church and the children's activities are for ages up to 12 years old.

Covid 19 Update:

Dear Friends of Hortense Camp:

In light of the current situation and with a lot of prayer and consideration, we have made the decision to cancel Hortense Camp for 2020.  It is with heavy hearts that we made this decision.  We feel that this decision is the responsible one during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

There were many factors that were considered in making this decision.  One factor that was considered was the challenge of being able to maintain social distancing in a large group.  We also considered sanitation and safety recommendations set forth by Gov. Kemp.

It is our plan to use this time to make some necessary repairs to the campground.

This was a difficult decision to come to, but we are looking forward to the 2021 encampment with anticipation and glorious hope.

Thank you for your prayers, your support, and your understanding.

May God bless you and your family.

Thank you,
Sheldon Rowell, Jr.
President, Hortense Wesleyan Camp Board
